7/1 American Idol 9 Top 10 Live Tour Coverage: The Palace in Auburn Hills, MI (PHOTOS)

UPDATED: We are getting tons of live updates on Twitter. [Keep checking. We will collect videos and photos as soon as people share them.]

Well, maybe we were exaggerating on that. It seemed like there were a lot of Twitter entries but it has dwindled down after a while. Since we have not followed the tour in anyway before, we don’t have a baseline. However from what we gather, this is NOW OFFICIALLY THE SLOWEST, WEAKEST AI TOUR in its history. Not too many buzz from fans and the media.

According to Brian Mansfield of USA Today’s Idol Chatter: “The Palace is configured for about 14,000 for a show like this, but nearly the entire upper level is curtained off. The Detroit critics by me say that means the show’s probably pulling between 8,000 and 9,000.” We wrote earlier that depending on its layout, The Palace can seat up to 23,000. If the 8k estimate is true, that’s not even half the capacity and we have yet to hear if the house is packed…

From Toledo Blade‘s estimates: “American Idol Live kicked off last night at The Palace of Auburn Hills before a crowd of about 7,500 people — mostly teenagers and mostly female — in the 14,000-seat venue.”

We found nice photos from Life.com and Zimbio.com. All rights go to them and to photographers: Mark Cunningham and Bill Pugliano for Getty Images and WireImage. Unfortunately, this was more like a Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox concert so they get the media love. We are hoping Didi fans will contribute their pics to this site. Scroll down below…

The Idols are heading to Milwaukee, WI next for the Summerfest , July 2nd- their second stop!

This we learned so far: The door officially opened at 5pm. The show’s supposed to start at 7:30 but they’re running late. “Something is going down. The video reel even stopped,” says @desilove She adds: “small stage this year. No catwalk or wings” @Lover_of_sushi shares her view of the concert, “Didi benami singing now,” she captions.

@Adambandaids says: “Didi @dbenami is killing it on stage right now!”

There is a 20-minute intermission to the 2-hour show.

Finally the set list of the tour. Songs revealed!
