Fresh from the Lexington stop in Kentucky last night, the idols head to the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, ready to play before the people of Georgia tonight!
Initial reports from Access Atlanta on American Idol Buzz by Rodney Ho:
“Oddly, I actually enjoyed the first half of the concert more than the second.
A guard earlier today said they sold about 6,000 tickets, half of full capacity. I’m not sure if the 6,000 excludes freebies and such because it looked more like 8,000 to me but what do I know? At least there didn’t appear to be more than 2,000 empty seats or so in the back. It’s not an embarrassing turnout by any means but sparse compared to past seasons, most of which have sold out here.”

Seriously, Didi Benami is too pretty- it’s not fair!!! 😉
Season 9’s American Idol Live Tour got the number 3 spot on MTV’s 10 on Top show on July 31, 2010. Host Lenay Dunn opens with “The Idols are killing it on stage…” Big thanks to blkeener on YouTube for sharing this with everyone.
More than ever, young celebrities are pop culture power players, doing more moving and shaking in a single week than previous stars did in a lifetime. Each week MTV will present MTV’s ’10 on Top’, a half-hour countdown of the Top 10 most texted and talked about young celebs at the moment. Their ranking will be influenced by the audience – based on the chatter they elicit, and the headlines they create each week, as well as the amount of buzz about their upcoming projects and events (appearances, premieres, tours, etc.).
Host Lenay Dunn will guide viewers through the countdown, introducing hot, new talent, and delivering up exclusive behind-the-scenes footage. It’s an entertaining summary of a week in the lives of young superstar entertainers–what deals they landed, whose hearts they broke, whose star is shining brightest right now, and whose will rise next.
10 on Top will be the weekly destination for our saavy, pop-loving, Tweet-happy audience.
The idols are performing tonight at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY (7:30pm)– Somehow, we feel SAD!!! 🙁
This is the end of July and tomorrow will be the start of the August stops, which means- the tour will be over in a month and with only 22 PERFORMANCES left. WE are all going to miss them as a collective group! All 10 will never be in one roof for a concert!! How did we end up loving all these 10 (as lee would say it…) “amazing” talents?!! Must be Didi Benami!!! 😉
Check back here later for photos and videos!
ABOUT THE VENUE: Rupp Arena is an arena located in downtown Lexington, Kentucky, U.S. It is the centerpiece of Lexington Center, a convention and shopping facility owned by an arm of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. Rupp Arena was the host of the 1985 NCAA Final Four, won in an upset by Villanova. With an official capacity of 23,500, it was the largest arena ever built specifically for basketball in the United States at the time of its opening in 1976. It is once again currently the largest basketball arena in the United States. In Rupp Arena, the Kentucky Wildcats almost always lead the nation in college basketball attendance. (WIKI)
Biggest sacrifice my parents made: “My mom bought a one-way ticket and stayed at my place while I was on the show and kept up my place.” Strongest act of support: “My parents told me to do what makes me happy, but also that I [could] quit and come home [if] things were really rough in L.A. I didn’t listen.” Best stress-relief technique: “My mom told me to breathe and meditate.”
Crystal Bowersox
Best advice my parents gave me: “I called my dad once when I was broke and hungry in Chicago and asked him for help. He told me, ‘You’ll find a way; I believe in you.’ And I did.”
Lee DeWyze
Best advice my parents gave me: “To always be true to myself and do what I think is right.” Strongest act of support: “They never — not even once — told me to pursue
anything other than music.”
Casey James
Biggest sacrifice my parents made for me: “Listening to me practice day and night!” Strongest act of support: “My mom bought me a pretty expensive guitar that I still own when I was just starting. She knew that I loved to play, so it was worth it.” Best stress-relief technique: “To realize my situation — no matter what it is — is all relative. It’s my choice to be happy or stressed. Which one will I pick? Happy.”

Best advice my parents gave me: “My dad was the first to teach me proper breath support for singing, and my mom gave me fashion advice: leather and lace.” Biggest sacrifice my parents made: “To support our family growing up, my dad set aside his dreams of being a musician to do hard labor working in construction.” Best stress-relief technique: “I sing to let off steam!”
