7/7 American Idols Live in Wantagh, NY at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater (PHOTOS)

The Season 9 American Idol Top 10 make their 5th stop in New York City in the on-going nationwide Live tour! They perform tonight at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, NY.

General Admission capacity of this theater is 5,000. That should be easy to fill up, right? Wrong! At press time, Wednesday’s show at Jones Beach, right outside New York, featured front-row seats still available for just $13. Ouch! That’s pretty bad.

Watch out for this space for photos later. Hang in there!

THE VIDEOS ARE IN THIS SECTION, Click here.

The concert must have started promptly. There are plenty of empty seats when Didi came out!! Unlike Andrew’s video showing like they filled up the venue.

Thank you NYRambler and pandorablu for the nice photos shared on Twitter!!

MSNBC The Scoop: "America is voting no on 'Idol' Live tour"

by Courtney Hazlett

This past season of “American Idol” is widely regarded as one of the show’s worst, and the corresponding Idol Live! tour might be the last nail in season nine’s coffin.

The tour, which features the final 10 contestants, has suffered poor ticket sales (example: at press time, Wednesday’s show at Jones Beach, right outside New York, featured front-row seats still available for just $13). Seven shows have been cancelled, and nine shows have been rescheduled.

A revised schedule released Tuesday by organizer LiveNation, shows the tour, which was originally scheduled to end Sept. 16 in Portland, Maine, is now slated to end Aug. 31 in Indianapolis.

Is there an explanation for the lack of interest, or worry on the part of the “Idol” brass? Reps for “Idol” won’t say, other than to comment, “At this time, other than confirming that some shows on the IDOL LIVE! 2010 tour itinerary have been moved and/or canceled, we are not issuing any comment or statement.”

A source close to the production had a little bit more to say about the sad state of the Idol Live tour.

“No one was very optimistic about the success of the Idols tour this summer,” said one well-placed “Idol” source. “They knew they didn’t have big stars on their hands, and really, ‘American Idol’s’ focus isn’t about creating a successful tour, it’s about creating a successful show, week to week. But unfortunately, the tour (not doing well) reflects badly on the show, especially since there’s the ‘who will replace Simon’ situation to contend with this year.”

A tepid tour won’t halt progress, though. “American Idol” begins auditioning for new hopefuls, as scheduled, July 17 in Nashville, Tenn.

Blogger Tour Review Hamilton, ON: ‘Without Ryan Seacrest Idol Is Nothing’

by Scott Jackson

The American Idol tour rolled into Hamilton last night. The concert features the top 10 contestants from this season.

All of the performers are better now, than they were on TV. I guess the tour has amped up their show. Each singer did two songs and a couple of group songs.

Thinking of highlights – and I really need to grapple to find any – Siobhan Magnus opened her 3- song set with “Paint It Black”. Her outfit was a bit undescribable – a combination of a ballerina gone punk. Her famous vocal scream could shame Maria Carey and it’s amazing that she can find the pitch so effortlessly. But – as good as she was – it was expected.

Aaron Kelly – the young kid – never liked him on TV but I think he might have a career in country. He looked comfortable on stage.

Lee DeWyze – the Idol finalist – is solid, but he’s just another David Cook/Chris Daughtry/Nickleback sound alike. Good – but who really cares? His runner up is Crystal Bowersox who has a definite style which is a Janis Joplin of the 21st Century. And of course she sang “Piece of My Heart” – a song I love by Janis but if I hear it one more time, it will lose all the anti-establishment/60’s angst and meaning.

The highlight of the show was Casey James. His soloing on guitar is far better than I picked up from the TV series and he seemed to be directing the band, rather than the band directing the singers. I think of all the performers, Casey is it. He handles himself well in interviews and he can rock out like you’d expect at a concert. He’s a good package. That was the only part of the show I liked.

Setwise, it looked like the budget was cut way back. So much so, that you wouldn’t think the creators of American Idol had anything to do with the live show.

No emcee, no cool effects, just a video countdown to each artist.

The singers said nothing more than “We love you” and the very annoying “Hello Canada! Only one singer said “hello Hamilton”, letting us know she knew what city she was in. Big pet peeve of mine – Why is it that Americans come to Canada and address the audience like they’re talking to our entire country? Imagine Hawk Nelson going to Miami for a concert and saying “Hello United States Of America!”. Haha! Get with program!

Ticket sales were so small they did half price sales. There were big gaps of empty seats in the middle section and no fans in the top balcony. If there were 5,000 fans I’d be surprised.

So what does all this mean? It was a concert of cover songs that we already enjoyed on TV and we’re tired of them. But mostly, without Ryan Seacrest the show is nothing.

7/5 American Idol Live Tour Coverage at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario (PHOTOS)

The American Idol Top 10 were heading to Ontario on July 3 immediately after their concert in Grand Rapids, MI. They spent America’s Independence day in Canada, July 4th.

The fourth serving of the two-month long Idol concert happens at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Venue capacity varies between 17,000 and 19,000. With the Idols concert as we have seen from the last three concerts- the actual crowd turnout is between 5,000-8,500 people.

Please watch out for this space. We will upload photos in this section as soon as we get them.

With special thank you and kudos to Audrey of Tony&Audrey on Flickr for the amazing high quality photographs. Posted with permission. Check out more photos on their Flickr page.

We have this shot taken July 5th, from Richard Budman with a caption that says:

“Visiting my bud at Thompson Hotel and American Idol peeps checkin’ out. 2010 winner LEE DEWYZE boarding tour bus for Idols show in Hamilton. I admit I don’t watch Idol and had someone point them out to me. They seemed pretty cool & nice.”

Lee’s Photo (for some reason, the image won’t show up here.)

He also saw Crystal Bowersox and shared a cute anecdote:

“When visiting friends at new Thompson hotel today – bumped into the American Idol’s checking out and heading to Hamilton for show tonight. Crystal shared a good story about how her and other Idols were at Toronto’s Gay Pride parade on Sunday and what an awesome time they had (they were surprised Canadians such party people.) But as soon as first person noticed them and asked for photo, the crowd around them suddenly swelled and everybody was asking for photos. Crystal kindly posed for lots of pics – even when some people got a little pushy.”

Thank you Richard Budman of ishot7 for this nice capture! (Please give credit when you are re-posting.)
